Due to its free bending characteristics, the folding machine has a lot of freedom in process development. It does not need to replace or adjust the mold. Through the combined action of the upper and lower folding dies and the pressing die, a variety of bending processes can be realized. , the process performance is even better. Below, we will share with you the characteristics of several folding machine process implementations based on typical workpieces from different industries.
1. Flattening process:
Flattening process, also called dead edge, is a common process in the sheet bending process. It can improve the strength of the sheet metal edge and make the sheet metal edge smooth without grinding. The dead edge of the bending machine needs to be bent twice, that is, the mold needs to be replaced. First, use a 30° sharp knife and a deep V-groove to bend 30° to 45°, and then use a flattening die to flatten it. When the folding machine performs the sheet flattening process, there is no need to change the mold. Through the cooperation of the folding beam and the pressing beam, a variety of flattening effects can be achieved.
The most common one is the flattening process of pressing the dead edge. For the folding machine, whether it is forward flattening or reverse flattening, there is no need to turn the plate over. The plate is directly placed flat on the work surface, and the angle forming of 30° to 45° is completed through the conventional bending process. Send the formed folded corners to the lower mold table and use a pressing die to flatten them. The whole process only takes a few seconds to complete. For the requirement of flattening and then bending, the folding machine can process it directly.
In addition to the common forward and backward flattening, in the switch cabinet and elevator industries, we often see the process requirement of opening flattening to enhance the strength and touch of the door edge. The folding machine can also use the cooperation of the folding beam and the compression beam to easily achieve various bending size and angle requirements in the front line and quickly achieve the final flattening effect.
2. Arc process:
Arc process is now also a necessary process for most manufacturers'workpieces. To achieve arc process, specific molds must be used. Arcs with different angles and different radii require different molds, which is not only costly, but also time-consuming and labor-intensive.
As for the folding machine, you only need to add one bending process. Because of its efficient continuous automatic bending, it can form arcs through multiple small-angle bending combinations. Not only does the effect be perfect, but it will not affect the continuous processing of the workpiece.
If the conventional folding method is used, even if there are more segments, there will eventually be a few creases on the outside of the arc formed by continuous bending due to the processing mechanism of the folding machine, which cannot meet the process requirements of workpieces in some industries. As a senior sheet metal equipment supplier with many years of R&D experience, Aite has finally developed a new arc process implementation plan after continuous testing. Through the cooperation of the folding die and the slider, the creases are formed. Appearing on the inside of the arc, it will not affect the surface smoothness, and the forming efficiency will also be improved. Appropriate arc process plans can be given according to arcs of different sizes and accuracy requirements, and as much as possible while meeting the process requirements. Save time and improve efficiency.
The advantage of the folding machine processing technology is not only to save time, effort and money. For some seemingly simple process requirements, the structure of the conventional bending machine determines that it cannot be processed at all. For example, the side mounting plate in the picture below has only two processes on one side, one is 90° forming and the other is 1/4 arc forming. If it is processed by a bending machine, it must be bent 90° first. The arc will not be processed, so it must be bent first. When forming a 1/4 arc and then processing a 90° straight edge, it will definitely affect the already processed arc surface. And it can be achieved easily, efficiently and with high precision through the folding machine.

3. Special-shaped bending process:
Special-shaped bending is a relatively broad description. It actually realizes various special-shaped processes of smaller sizes through the free folding path and mold combination of the four-sided folding machine. For example, U-shaped bends with an opening less than 6mm, small Z-shaped bends with a step difference of 1mm, various small-sized N-shaped bends, etc.
Although these formed shapes can eventually be processed by a bending machine, using a folding machine can process them in one go. There is no need to change molds or turn over during the entire process. Especially for larger workpieces, the labor requirements are low and the processing accuracy is higher. More consistent.
